Reuters - Radio rating company Arbitron Inc said on Tuesday it would not go live with its Portable People Meter electronics ratings service in July as planned because it has not yet received accreditation from an industry trade group.

Reuters - CBS Radio on Thursday said it reached a seven-year deal to use Arbitron Inc's portable people meter rating method, becoming the first major radio company to sign on to the new technology.

AdWeek.com - Fearing higher research costs, lower ratings or both, radio stations have once again managed to construct a roadblock to the rollout of Arbitron's Portable People Meter ratings service. At the urging of its Radio Advisory Council last week, Arbitron agreed it would not make the PPM ratings the currency in Houston without Media Rating Council accreditation. Both parties are still debating whether MRC accreditation would be a prerequisite for rolling out the PPM in Philadelphia and other markets.
